Developing a personal style can feel overwhelming; it might feel like there are so many rules. Building outfits can seem daunting, especially if you don’t know where to start. I understand those concerns because I was once a beginner, not knowing what I liked and how to style certain pieces. You’re probably wondering, Mia, how do I solve this problem? I solved this problem mainly by looking at others. That’s right, I took inspiration from others. The best inspiration comes from people who share your passion.

So below are five YouTubers worth exploring if you’re lost in your closet and need inspiration, as each offers their own perspective on fashion and styling.

Chloe Felopulos

Chloe Felopulos is a 27-year-old girl in NYC with a bold, loud, funky style. Many would consider her personal style adventurous and maximalist. She’s also a professional stylist, so when you watch her videos, she is speaking from experience. So when she goes over trends and puts outfits together, she does it through her creative eye, seeing color, texture, and silhouettes differently. Many of her videos focus on styling for recent brands she’s collaborating with or showing off outfits she put together for herself and wore throughout the week. When watching her content, you will start to understand the ins and outs of styling, not just for yourself but for others. So if you have a vivid sense of style and want to push it further, watching Chloe and her videos will help you visualize ways to elevate your style. She might not be in everyone’s comfort zone, but she will push you creatively to think about certain pieces and how to make them your own. Everyone needs a little color in their life, and she’ll help you add it.

Laini Ozark

Laini Ozark is a 27-year-old girl who lives in Michigan, and her style is simple, minimal, and understated. She emphasizes that it’s okay to keep it simple, and she shows you how to elevate your everyday basics. She also has a background in styling, so much of her advice comes from experience. She posts a variety of things, but her main content focuses on trends, how to wear them, and how to style the clothes you already have for each season. She’s aware of microtrends and what’s popular, but she points out that doesn’t mean you have to follow them. Laini does a great job of showing the viewers what’s popular, but that doesn’t mean your style is any less if you don’t have those items. That is why she makes videos styling her own wardrobe in ways that still feel fresh and new without buying the latest fashion pieces. So if you have a simpler style and want to start with what you already have, watching Laini’s videos can help you realize you don’t need a whole new wardrobe, because she’ll help you fall in love with the pieces you already own.

Lilrotini

Arabella, also known as Lilrotini, is a content creator who posts on YouTube but gained recognition on TikTok a few years back for styling her grandmother’s blouse in a way that felt modern and chic. She took her styling skills to YouTube and now creates content involving different ways to style for the seasons, how to layer, and how to style one piece multiple ways. Her style is simple yet edgy; in her videos, she shows viewers how to elevate everyday basics. So if you like the basics in your wardrobe and are content with the clothes you already own, but want to change how you wear them. Lilrotini will show you how to turn the same pieces you’ve worn repeatedly into a whole new set of clothes. She’ll show you how to make your pieces work for all four seasons, and she’ll teach you how to layer like a pro

Unproductive Bestie

Michelle, but better known as Unproductive Bestie, has more of a commentary approach when it comes to fashion and styling, as she’ll talk about a particular fashion item and go in depth about the item: what’s the purpose, is it practical or for looks, a want or need, as these are all important aspects. She breaks fashion down in a way that feels informative; she talks about the creative approach but meets it with a logical approach. Michelle talks about fashion items and trends, but by the end of the video, you’ll understand how they can benefit you and how to make them practical for your lifestyle and personal style. So if you want to learn more about fashion and how it can apply to you and work for you, watching some of her videos would be beneficial.

Sydnee Zora

Sydnee Zora is a 27-year-old girl in Canada whose content focuses on thrifting for her dream wardrobe. I included Sydnee as a YouTuber to watch because application is important, since the last four YouTubers talk about clothes, how to style them, and trends. You’re probably wondering again, Mia, what happens now after watching these videos? You begin the application step: you either go into your closet and start there, or you shop and slowly buy pieces that highlight your style. Sydnee’s videos follow her as she takes viewers along as she shops for her dream closet. She has a pretty strong idea of what her style is. The hardest part is finding it in stores. So her videos take viewers through the shopping journey and the experiences she might face, like a bad shopping day. Eventually, we’ll all reach the point of taking what we’ve learned and going out into the world, and watching creators like Sydnee help us picture what it would look like to find our style in stores. So if you’re ready to take that final step and shop around for your style but still need guidance, watching her videos will help.

Do you know your personal style yet? Now that you have five new YouTubers that you just learned about? If the answer is no, don’t worry; that’s okay because it takes time to find it, develop it, and finally apply it. If you couldn’t tell, fashion is a bit of a cycle, and trends follow one too. Finding your personal style is no different because we grow and evolve, and sometimes our fashion grows and evolves with us. Personal style doesn’t mean you have to follow every trend and recreate someone else’s outfit, and these YouTubers prove that. The goal is to take inspiration from what you watch and make it your own, because it’s about discovering what makes you feel comfortable, confident, and creative in the clothes you wear.
